Canton residents will need to be on the lookout soon, as an invasion of monsters is planned.
Monster Bash: Bela Lugosi Film Festival will be coming to the Palace Theatre for two days of classic horror films. In addition, vendors will be in the lobby and on the theater's mezzanine.
The films scheduled to be shown are “Chandu, the Magician,” “Island of Lost Souls,” “Mark of the Vampire,” “The Devil Bat,” “Night Monster,” “The Return of the Vampire,” “Bride of the Monster,” and, of course, the original “Dracula.” The film was released by Universal Studios in 1931, the first movie adaptation of the novel to be shot with sound. Although several actors were considered for the part of the count, it went to Lugosi, who had played the role on Broadway.
On Friday, the vendors will be available from 3:00 pm until midnight, and on Saturday from 12:00 pm until midnight. Frank Dello Stritto, a writer and film historian, will give two presentations about Lugosi's films, life and career. Stritto will speak on Friday at 9:00 pm, and on Saturday at 6:00 pm. Finally, there will be a special presentation of the film “Ed Wood,” starring Martin Landau and Johnny Depp, at 11:00 pm on Saturday night, with a prize toss taking place at 1:00 am.
The dates of the festival are August 14 and 15. Poster printing is an outstanding process to use to advertise events like this.
