Italian cultural fest set for Canton

The Stark County Italian American Festival will take place at a new location in the Canton area this July, highlighting Mediterranean culture and local talent.

The festival will feature two stages of live music and other entertainment, including a main stage with contemporary acts like New Wave Nation, Chicago Rewind, and Roy Massa’s EuroRhythms. There will also be an Italian stage featuring traditional music and dance. One of the most popular annual events is the bocce tournament, pitting local teams against each other in the classic lawn bowling game. The tournament includes men’s and women’s quartets as well as a solo Bocce Challenge. A new addition for this year is the Italian Car Cruise-In, where local car buffs are invited to show off their Italian sports car models.

Other aspects of the festival include midway-style rides and games for children, a fireworks display, and a special awards breakfast, where the recipients of this year’s Dominic J. Bagnoli awards and scholarships will be recognized. Cultural festivals like this often use methods like poster printing and social media to help attract people from all backgrounds. The Stark County festival has taken place since 1986 and has become a staple of the Canton area’s summers.

The 2025 Stark County Italian American Festival will take place at Kent State University’s Stark Campus in North Canton from July 11 to 13.
