Family fun comes to Canton

ArtsinStark is presenting a day of family fun at the Cultural Center for the Arts in Canton.

The All Together Now Family Fun Fest, which is the second annual event, will include live performances, and free activities such as face painting and make-and-take stations. Everyone’s favorite meals-on-wheels alternative, food trucks, will also be taking part. Face painting will be done by The Amazing Giants, circus performers who will be bringing their Strawberry Circus show to the fest.

Other entertainers this year are magician Rick Smith, Jr., storyteller Lindsay Bonilla, and dances from West Africa from the Djapo Cultural Arts Institute.

Rick Smith has been practicing magic since he was seven, and performs many diverse types of magic, including interactive, comedy, and Las Vegas-style performances. He also won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for throwing a playing card a distance of 216 feet, 4 inches.

Lindsay Bonilla is a professional storyteller and children’s book author, who has traveled the world learning about other cultures and interacting with people through theater.

The Djapo Cultural Arts Institute preserves traditional African music and dance with a goal to creating positive images of the culture and sharing it with others via exposure, international travel, community gatherings, workshops, and stage performances.

The event is Saturday, September 10 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Center for the Arts. When there are many activities taking place during events like this, organizers can use flyer printing to create a schedule for attendees.
