Country star coming to Canton

One of country's biggest names will be coming to Canton soon.

Dwight Yoakam, who grew up listening to traditional country artists such as Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, created what he called his own “hillbilly music” and, in a career going back 40 years, has released over 12 albums featuring this unique sound. Over 30 of his singles have made it onto the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, and he has over 30 million record sales.

In addition, five of his albums have climbed all the way to No. 1 on the Billboard charts; twelve albums have gone to gold; nine to platinum; and “This Time” reached triple-platinum status. Yoakam's fans will already know many of his songs, from “Guitars Cadillacs” to “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere.”

Yoakam has also earned his chops as an actor, appearing in the films “Panic Room,” where he portrayed a psychopathic murderer, and in “Sling Blade,” playing the part of an abusive boyfriend.

A review of Yoakam in concert says:

“What a concert! A professional performer who loves what he does! Played for over three hours and the energy was electrifying from start to finish!”

Dwight Yoakam will be at the Canton Palace Theater on November 10, at 8:00 pm. This performance has been rescheduled from May 3. Poster printing is often used to create publicity when productions such as this are scheduled.
