Cool Christmas in Canton

A retro event is being planned in Canton.

The Canton Palace Theatre is bringing the Rat Pack to the city to start the festive season. The show will take audiences back to the time when Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis Jr., aka the Rat Pack, appeared together in films and on stage. In addition, Liza Minelli will also appear, as no Rat Pack show would be perfect without her.

The original Rat Pack were a group of entertainers who were also friends. They first got together in the 1940s and early 1950s, when celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Mickey Rooney, Nat King Cole, and Errol Flynn met at the home of Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart. In the 1960s, the Rat Pack most people think of comprised Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra.

The Rat Pack performing today is a tribute to three of these greats. They include Michael Sonata as Frank Sinatra, Stanley Davis as Sammy Davis, Jr., Scott Brotherton as Dean Martin, and Sandra Montevideo as Liza Minelli. The Dave Banks Big Band will also perform, as will special guests VOX AUDIO, an a capella group from Canton who will perform holiday classics.

The event is family-friendly, and attendees can expect improv comedy as well as musical memories. There are two shows scheduled, on November 11 at 7.00 pm, and November 12 at 2.00 pm. Organizers of events like these will find poster printing is a great method of creating publicity.
