Celebrated singer/actor to appear in Canton

A popular singer who also has several movies to his credit will appear in Canton.

Chris Isaak is probably best known for his smash-hit single “Wicked Game.” He has been dubbed a “crooner” with a style reminiscent of the rock and roll singers of the 1950s like Elvis Presley. He has also provided music for several films directed by David Lynch, who cast him in “Twin Peak: Fire Walk with Me,” the full-length film “prequel” to the cult television series.

Warner Bros. Records signed Isaak in 1985, and he released “Silvertone,” his debut album, on that label. Though only a modest success, it won praise from critics, including John Fogerty, and David Lynch used two songs from the album in his movie “Blue Velvet.”

Isaak followed up this effort with “Chris Isaak,” which made it onto the Billboard 200. In 1988, Warner Bros. placed Isaak with Reprise Records, another of its labels, and it was Reprise that released his third album, “Heart Shaped World,” in 1989. This album included “Wicked Game,” and was Isaak’s breakthrough.

A review says:

“Chris Isaak is simply awesome. . . . Isaak and his band didn’t just perform, they entertained, playing 29 songs for nearly two hours . . .”

Isaak will be at the Canton Palace Theatre on July 15 at 8:00 pm. Event such as this benefit when organizers use poster printing to create advertising.
