Canton to take a Journey into the past

A band that pays tribute to one of rock’s iconic outfits is coming to Canton.

ESC4P3 is a tribute band to Journey, one of the most innovative groups in rock. The original band formed in 1973 in San Francisco, and throughout their career sold approximately 100 million albums worldwide. Their hits include “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Wheel in the Sky,” and “Any Way You Want It.”

ESC4P3 got together in 1993, and for six years, performed for thousands of Journey fans throughout the country. After a hiatus, they reformed in 2008, and went back to the business of recreating the experience of attending a Journey concert. This group focuses on the Journey catalog from the early 1980s, considered the “Steve Perry era.”

The current lineup of the band is Jason Kelly handing the vocals; George McGrew on guitar; Erney Chaney on the keyboards; bassist Paul Soos (who also plays in another tribute band, Best of Times—A Tribute to Styx); and drummer Billy Jones. Most say they grew up in musical homes, and cite Journey as one of their influences. Of this band, one columnist says:

“Their dedication to honoring one of the most beloved bands in music history is truly something to behold.”

ESC4P3 will be at the Canton Palace Theatre on January 13, at 7.00 pm. Organizers planning events like this can work with poster printing to create colorful advertisements for them.
