Canton to get Sky Zone

The old Circuit City store in Springbrook Plaza has been vacant for a long time, but now the space will be getting new tenants.

An indoor trampoline known as Sky Zone will be taking half the space, which is about 22,000 square feet. The second tenant is still finalizing its lease.

Sky Zone was founded in 2004, and opened its first location in Las Vegas that year. This summer, Sky Zone opened its 100th store.

The company has seven Ohio locations, the closest of which is one in Summit County's Boston Heights, and two in Cuyahoga County, in Westlake and Highland Heights. The company advertises itself a place people can go for “fun fitness”.

Springbrook Plaza was built in 1989, and Fitzpatrick Properties has owned it since 2012. The plaza's largest tenants are Planet Fitness, Office Depot, and Pat Catan's. Circuit City was the plaza's anchor store until the electronics chain closed all its locations in 2009.

Many properties in the plaza have been vacant since then, but the picture is changing with Fitzpatrick in charge. The Wise Owl, which sells educational goods, and Mr. Hyde, a local retail clothing store, have both moved in, and say they are glad to be here.

Sky Zone managers could work with a flyer printing company on a handout including a discount coupon, to distribute near the store on opening day.
