Canton to celebrate the weird and mysterious

People who are fans of UFOs, ghosts, and Bigfoot have an event coming up that might have been designed especially for them.

Seth Breedlove is a filmmaker noted for a documentary called “Minerva Monster,” and other films about the mysterious and strange. Breedlove will be the host of the upcoming Monster Fest, which is set for downtown Canton. Breedlove is the head of the Small Town Monsters production company, which is based in Wadsworth.

Organizers describe the event as a Super Bowl for paranormal enthusiasts, where they will be able to meet and chat with scores of podcasters, filmmakers, investigators, researchers, and others who specialize in subjects like the paranormal.

Guests already confirmed include screenwriter Richard Hatem, who wrote “The Mothman Prophecies;” and podcasters Jim Harold, Forrest Burgess, and Scott Philbrook. Burgess and Philbrook host the “Astonishing Legends” podcast, which has millions of listeners, and Harold has been podcasting on the subject of the paranormal for approximately 20 years.

Breedlove wanted to put this type of event together after the success of events centered on his “Minerva Monster” documentary, which explored the sightings reported in the 1970s of a large, hairy creature reported to be observed in Paris Township, located in Stark County.

Monster Fest is set for Saturday, June 3, and the venue is the Doubletree Hotel. Occasions like this are perfect places for people with similar interests to exchange Business Cards.
