Canton is getting ready to honor Arbor Day with a celebration with the theme of the ‘Harmony of Trees’. This is the sixth year in which Canton will hold an official Arbor Day Celebration.
In connection with the day, a photography contest is being sponsored by the Canton Tree Commission. All Stark County residents may take part. The theme of the contest is also the ‘Harmony of Trees’, and those who wish to participate are encouraged to take or submit photos of trees in various seasons of the year. Officials can use flyer printing to describe entries in contests like this.
There are a number of contest rules, as follows:
• Entries can be no smaller than 8x10”
• They must be mounted on a matte, either off-white or white, or on a mounting board
• The mounting board cannot be any larger than 16x20
• The photographer must identify the work by putting his or her name and address, email, phone, and the title of the work on the back of the mounting material
• No information of any kind, even the title, is to be on the photo itself
• Photographers may submit up to two shots, but only new material will be accepted.
The deadline to submit photos is April 12 at 4:00 pm, and the Arbor Day Celebration is set for April 26, and the photos will be displayed there. Further information, including when additional exhibits are scheduled, is on the city's website.
