The Canton Ceramic Artists Guild, a group affiliated with the Canton Museum of Art, has set a date for its spring show.
This year, as has been the case for the past 20 years, Guild members are participating in a program called ‘Empty Bowls Against Hunger’. The artists have made and donated bowls, which are unique to each artist, that will be sold to benefit the Stark County Hunger Task Force. The minimum purchase price for one of the bowls is $15. The initiative has raised over $1,000 annually in recent years.
Other items for sale include sculpture and pottery of all kinds—functional, decorative, and handcrafted. Guild members make all the works, and part of the proceeds from the sales go to benefit programs the Museum runs about ceramics.
The Guild's Annual May Show and Ceramic Sale is set for May 6 and 7. On the Friday, the hours are 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on Saturday, the event runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The show will be at the Canton Museum of Art, in the building's lobby, as well as the Wilkof Courtyard. The museum is in downtown Canton, on Market Avenue North in the Cultural Center for the Arts.
Event organizers might create festive Banners to hang throughout the venue to add to the fun.
