In 1973, former members of the bands Frumious Bandersnatch, the Steve Miller Band, and Santana got together and created Journey. The band was most successful during the period 1978 to 1987, the time at which Steve Perry was their lead singer. They released a string of hits, including “Don’t Stop Believin,” which is one of the best-selling tracks in the history of iTunes.
In 1981, they released their album “Escape,” which was their seventh studio effort. The album went to No. 1 in the U.S. chart and was certified 10-times Platinum. It was certified three-times Platinum in Canada, and Japan certified it as Gold.
Journey was first known as a progressive rock band, but by 1978 they had added “pop” to that description by incorporating pop arrangements to their basic rock sound on the album “Infinity.” They boast over 80 million record sales globally, and have 25 albums that were certified either Gold or Platinum.
A review of a recent concert says:
“It was a night of polished performances . . . of songs that have stood the test of time.”
Journey will be at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton on August 6, with doors opening at 8:00 pm. When organizers look for an effective way to publicize events like this, they should consider using poster printing.
