Alt-rock band booked in Canton

A band set to perform in Canton is known for its message of turning adversity into strength.

Ravenwood formed in 2010 in Canton, as the brainchild of Joe Vitale Jr. Vitale’s involvement in music always seemed likely, as he is the son of drummer Joe Vitale, who has been with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, as well as the Eagles and Joe Walsh.

The younger Vitale grew up on the road. Having a famous father opened some doors, but also left the young man struggling to create his own identity. He has taken his frustrations, doubt, and adversity, and converted them to strength, as displayed on his 2021 album, “Ravenous.” A second album, “Unsympathetic Vibrations,” is in the works.

Joe Vitale is the only permanent member of Ravenwood, handling drums, piano, synthesizers, keyboards, bass, guitars, and programming, as well as performing both leading and backing vocals. When tourist as Ravenwood, Vitale is joined by Brandon Covey, Dan Kinsinger, and Neil Zaza. The group has created a sound that is a blend of industrial and alternative rock.

Ravenwood will be at the Canton Palace Theatre on Saturday, January 7 as part of their Local, Live series, which is fitting since Canton is the band’s hometown. When concerts like these are scheduled, organizers can use poster printing to create advertising that makes a statement and attracts concertgoers.
