Jonathan Foster is a singer and songwriter who is known for his playing of the harmonica and the acoustic guitar, as well as his introspective lyrics and soulful vocals. Though his sound is not easy to categorize, he has been described as offering a roots-oriented Folk-Americana blend.
Based in Redding, California, Foster recently released his album “Lantern Shade,” which is a demonstration of the way he blends the influences of his life. Here, he draws on memories of Cranberry Lake, New York, his hometown, and combines them with the inspiration he derives from spending time in the Cascade Mountains to create a sound that veers to the rock edge of folk music. Tunes on the album include “Stardust Saltwater,” and “The Ship.”
A review says:
“Not only is ‘Lantern Shade’ one of the best records I've heard from an up-and-coming artist recently it also ranks with the best work I've heard from anyone . . .”
Foster usually plays solo but occasionally appears with a band. He has crossed the country more than 15 times on his tours, and cites Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and John Prine among his inspirations.
Jonathan Foster will be at the Muggswigz Coffee & Tea in Canton on July 30 at 6:00 pm. Poster printing is a traditional and effective method of advertising events like this.
