The luncheon of the 34th annual Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Awards was recently held in Tarrytown at the Westchester Marriott.
There were 58 senior citizens from throughout Westchester County who were honored at the luncheon, including J. Michael Cindrich of Mt. Kisco, one of four recipients of the Special Recognition Award.
County Executive Robert P. Astorino said at the ceremony that these people have been inducted into the Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in acknowledgement of their dedication to others and their service to the community. This ceremony is a longstanding tradition in the County and is a way to thank these seniors for their commitment, energy, and time to improve the quality of life of those in the community.
The Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services (DSPS) and Westchester County Livable Communities are sponsors of the Senior Citizens Hall of Fame along with Jansen Hospice and Palliative Care in Scarsdale as a co-sponsor.
Commissioner of the DSPS, Mae Carpenter, commented that these seniors demonstrate that one can still be a vital member of the community at any age, and their contributions help to make the County the senior-friendly one that it is.
The Senior Hall of Fame might consider hiring a local Print company to Print mailers that can be sent to those throughout the County informing its residents of these accomplishments.
