“Tick Smart: A Community Training With Fordham's Calder Center” will be held at the Fordham University Louis Calder Center on Whippoorwill Road in Armonk next month. This is within easy driving distance of Mt. Kisco.
This is a workshop that is based on science and will offer hands-on opportunities. This workshop will provide attendees with practical tools to reduce one’s risk, enjoy the outdoors with confidence, and help to protect the community.
Among the topics that will be covered will be how to not only recognize ticks but at different stages of their life. Attendees will also learn about the species that are common in the region and their role in Lyme and other diseases borne by ticks. Best practices for personal protection to reduce exposure will also be covered as well as how to interpret and use the Fordham Tick Index. The Fordham Yick Index is a weekly measure of bite risk and tick activity in the tri-state area and focuses on practical steps participants can use right away. Lastly, guidance on how to safely manage outdoor spaces, including seasonal spraying, will be talked about during the workshop.
Such unique and helpful workshops can be promoted throughout a region with poster printing.
This workshop will be held on Saturday April 11 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
