Upstate New York to host annual parade

The annual Northern Westchester-Putnam St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held in Mahopac next month. Residents of Mt. Kisco will not want to miss this special event.

Events such as this one are often promoted throughout a region with poster printing.

The is the 44th consecutive year of the parade, which is the third largest such parade in New York State. The parade celebrates and recognizes the Irish heritage, pride, and culture of those who have emigrated from across the ocean, the Irish American community, and those who are Irish in spirit. The support of the Irish community is shown by the patriotic groups, many clubs and organizations, bands, and many others who participate in the parade.

Among the sponsors of this year’s parade are the Emerald Association of Putnam County, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Putnam County, and the Irish American Social Club of Yorktown. This year’s Grand Marshall is Elizabeth Flannery, a resident of Yorktown who is an active member of the Irish American Social Club and participated in such parades in Mt. Kisco, New York City, and Mahopac.

The parade will take place on Sunday March 8 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope Road and ending at the Lake Plaza Shopping Center. Before the parade at 1:30 p.m., the Pledge of Allegiance will be recited at the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department 911 Memorial.
