An Arbor Day celebration will be held at the Rockefeller State Park Preserve in Sleepy Hollow. Residents of nearby Mt. Kisco will no doubt be interested in this event.
Steven Rockefeller Jr., an artist, avid photographer, and major supporter of the Preserve and its art gallery, will present a special collection of Rockefeller sayings and images that will be given away at the event. There will also be refreshments and live music by Mike and Ruthy of The Mammals. One of their pieces will be the “Ashokan Farewell”, which was written by Jay Ungar, Ruthy’s father, for the Civil War documentary written by Ken Burns. More information about the activities at such events is made available with flyer printing.
In addition, Rockefeller State Park Preserve was recently inducted into the Old-Growth Forest Network so there will be an unveiling of the designation plaque for this network. Attendees can also join in planting a tree that supports the mission of the Network.
The Old-Growth Forest Network is the only national network in the United States of old-growth, protected, and native forests that also creates an alliance of people who care about them.
This event will take place on Friday April 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend but those interested in the event need to register as there is a maximum of 40 people.
