Officials and residents of Mt. Kisco recently supported proposed zoning amendments so that the complex owned by Diamond Properties would allow a ShopRite supermarket and eliminate the membership requirements for entertainment facilities for families.
The complex is 31 acres in size with 600,000 square feet of space for various types of uses. One of them is a ShopRite that would move from its location in Bedford Hills and occupy about 70,000 square feet of space.
Developer James Diamond said that in order for the property to stay competitive, there needs to be new businesses although he was not specific as to what these businesses might be. He added that many companies are no longer looking for warehouse and large office space. Two warehouse operations have already moved out of the space. There is a Saw Mill Club East and a Grand Prix New York go-kart and entertainment facility in the complex that plan to stay.
Gina Picinich, Mayor of Mt. Kisco, said that the village needs to keep up with marketplace changes. She added that the village might benefit from additional family entertainment.
Print shops can be hired to create various types of printed materials that can be sent to residents, so they can become aware of such changes and be able to add their input to any recommendations.
