New York superintendent receives state accolade

Dr. James Langlois, superintendent of Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, was recently named as the School Superintendent of the Year for New York State by the New York State Council of School Superintendents.

Mt. Kisco is located in one of the 18 local school districts that are part of this regional educational agency.

According to the Council, Dr. Langois is the leader of an agency that demonstrates collaboration and innovation and serves some of the school districts that are among the most respected and highly rated in the country. The Executive Director of the Council, Dr. Robert Reidy, added that many colleagues in the state and beyond admire Dr. Langois, who has been called upon to serve in many leadership roles.

Dr. Langois began his career in public education as a high school English teacher in Connecticut 50 years ago. Since then he has worked in many positions of leadership in the schools of the Bronx and Manhattan and was superintendent in Goshen, New York before becoming District Superintendent of Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, a position in which he has served for 10 years.

Officials from the respective school districts could work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer to distribute to the community informing them of this distinction, and that Dr. Langlois now becomes New York’s candidate for national superintendent of the year.
