New command vehicle for Mt. Kisco fire department

A new command vehicle has been purchased for the Independent Fire Department of Mt. Kisco. This purchase of a 2023 Chevy Tahoe was made possible by a grant from the state Senate of $50,000 that was secured by New York State Senator Pete Harckham.

News of such important purchases and investments is often made known throughout a community with flyer printing.

Command vehicles are used by fire departments for internal communications. They offer better mobility to an assistant chief or the chief, to enable them to arrive first at the scene and decide the most appropriate response.

The cost of the command vehicle was $90,000 and has a state-of-the-art Whelen emergency warning package that can alert traffic of an emergency that is taking place without blinding motorists to ensure the safety of firefighters working at the scene. There are also essential tools for firefighting on the vehicle so a chief can manage certain calls that do not require the department to respond. These tools include an air pack, mobile and portable radios, a Knox Box, gas detector, a heavy-duty flashlight, and structural firefighting gear.

Raymond J. Zaccari, Second Assistant Chief of the Independent Fire Company of Mt. Kisco, said that the department collaborated with those from the office of Senator Harckham to make this purchase possible and he thanked the senator for his continued support.
