Mt. Kisco to hold inaugural road race

The Village Board of Trustees of Mt. Kisco has given its approval for the village to have its own road race this month.

The race is called the Kisco 5K and its course will begin and end at Kirby Plaza, pass by Oakwood Cemetery on Lexington Avenue, and include Radio Circle and Stewart Place.

Lisa Abzun, one of the organizers of the race, is hopeful that there will be about 300 people in the 5K. She took up running about six years ago but still considers herself to be a novice. Her interest in having a road race within Mt. Kisco developed last November after she noted that other surrounding communities held various events of this nature.

As the race is a new event in town, printing companies are likely to be busy in creating Flyers and Posters to distribute around the community with more information about the race.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 21. Runners will gather at 8:00 am for the race, with a start of 8:30 a.m. It is expected that the race will finish about an hour later, after which medals for several categories will be given out. The registration cost is $20. After the race, the Mt. Kisco Chamber of Commerce will be holding the second day of its Sidewalk Sales Days.
