Mt. Kisco to gain new Mexican eatery and several other new businesses

A Chipotle Mexican Grill is planned for the Mt. Kisco Commons shopping plaza. Chipotle will occupy about 2,500 square feet of a site that was once occupied by an Applebee’s restaurant.

A resolution was approved by the Planning Board of the village last May to enable two restaurants to occupy the space in the former Applebee’s, and the Board is still considering proposals for the remaining 2,738 square feet of the building.

The Board also indicated that there is no projected timeline for the opening of the Chipotle restaurant. Banner printing companies could be used at such sites, which may be fenced off, to create displays keeping the community informed of projects and their progress.

This new restaurant is part of the recent increase in the number of businesses opening in Mt. Kisco, says the co-executive director of the Mt. Kisco Chamber of Commerce, Beth Vetare-Civitello. Among the new businesses planned to open are Pure Barre (a fitness studio) and Porch (an interior design place).

Mayor Gina Picinich added that there has also been a great of growth in the downtown area, noting that a spa recently opened on Main Street and the Fred Astaire Dance Studio also moved into the downtown area.

Other shops planning to open near the downtown area include the artisanal chocolate maker Mast Brothers, a coffee place called Yirga Café, and several specialty clothing stores.
