A drop-in program of Technology Tutoring is now being offered by Neighbors Link, based in Mt. Kisco.
Neighbors Link is currently looking for volunteers to answer technical questions from clients. Those who can volunteer need to be of high school age, in college, or adults with spare time and some proficiency in Spanish. A staff member who is bilingual will always be on hand for the tutoring, so the ability to speak and understand Spanish is not mandatory, but those who can are encouraged to show their interest.
In addition, volunteers should understand basic computer technology and be able to help people with topics such as setting up an email account, how to use email, resetting passwords, filling out applications for jobs online, and downloading apps to their phone. Such volunteer positions are often advertised throughout the community with flyer and poster printing.
The mission of Neighborhood Link is to strengthen the entire community by integrating immigrants into the community with a healthy approach. Neighborhood Link offers education in English as a Second Language, a Worker Center, workforce development, legal services, and academic support for school-age children of immigrants.
The tutoring will take place at the Mt. Kisco headquarters of Neighbor Link from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Thursday evenings. All new volunteers will attend a short orientation.
