Mt. Kisco library to undergo name change

The Village Board of Mt. Kisco recently voted to change the name of the Mt. Kisco Public Library to the Henry V. Kensing Memorial Library, to express its appreciation for the contributions which the late Henry Kensing made as village justice and mayor.

Kensing lived his entire life in the village. He was an attorney and held the position of general counsel and vice president at Dynamics Corporation of America until 1988. He then opened his own law practice in Mt. Kisco, and was an advocate working for disadvantaged and underserved people who needed social and legal services.

Village officials have praised Kensing, Deputy Mayor Anthony Markus said he was selfless and made numerous contributions to the village.

Mayor Michael Cindrich added that he implemented a unique kind of court when he was village justice. This court saved the lives of many people as it served as an alternative to jail for people who committed minor offenses. He also helped people on a more private basis.

The ceremony for the renaming of the library will take place at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 29 at the building.

Poster printing companies can be hired to create items that can be displayed in key locations in villages, giving people the information they need to know where they can make donations.
