Mt. Kisco hospital recognized for high-quality patient care

The Orthopedic and Spine Institute of Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco has received the Gold Seal of Approval for Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification from the Joint Commission.

This was given to the hospital after it demonstrated continuous compliance with the performance standards of the group. The Gold Seal shows that the standards of the hospital provide high-quality and safe patient care. It focuses on pre-surgical orthopedic consultations, rehabilitation activities and follow-up visits with orthopedic surgeons. Announcements of receiving such special recognitions is often made known throughout the community with poster printing.

Derek Anderson, Executive Director of Northern Westchester Hospital, said that the medical staff always endeavors to provide the highest quality care for its patients. He added that receiving the Gold Seal confirms that the team of the Spine Institute is committed to its patients and offering the best possible care.

Mark Pelletier, chief of accreditation for the Joint Commission, said that this certification recognizes those in healthcare that are committed to constantly improving their patients’ experience. Pelletier added that Northern Westchester Hospital is to be commended for streamlining its clinical processes, and strengthening its management framework and program structure for its orthopedic patients.

Director of joint replacement surgery at the Spine Institute, Dr. Joel Buchalter, said that most patients return to hiking, biking, and other activities within a few months of their procedures.
