The Pinnacle Award for Best Custom Home in the category of 6,500 square feet and over was recently awarded to P. Morrissey Contracting of Mt. Kisco by the Hudson Valley Builders and Remodelers Association.
The home for which Patrick Morrissey and his residential contracting business won the award burned to the ground in 2013. The company has been rebuilding the house over a period of almost a year to include energy-efficient construction and geo-thermal systems. Before moving back into their home, the family had to live in several locations.
According to Morrissey, who started his company over 30 years ago, said the family is very happy with the house and it meets all their needs and requirements. He adds that they were fortunate to have left the house while its was ablaze, and that the family feels the new home meets their specific lifestyle.
Mary Scott, AIA, was the architect for the project, and was assisted by Martin Heinz, an interior designer. Morrissey commented that his employees are somewhat awed by the recognition and feel very lucky to have been recognized for their work.
Contractors like Morrissey can often benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to advertise such special achievements by means of a tasteful sign placed on the front lawn of the house.
