Mt. Kisco bridge undergoes reconstruction

A project to replace a bridge with structural deficiencies on the Saw Mill River Parkway over Kisco Avenue in Mt. Kisco will begin construction in mid-October.

The project has a cost of $14m, with ECCO III Enterprises, based in Yonkers, as the contractor. According to the vice president for the company, William Cromeek, disruption to drivers on the Parkway is expect to be minimal as lanes going in both directions will be open at all times. Outside of rush hour periods, there may be one lane closed.

He added that to keep the bridge open to traffic during construction, the work will be done in stages. Additional work will include construction of a sound barrier between the Pine Crest residences on the north side of the bridge and the Saw Mill River Parkway, and other roadway improvements.

Paul Tirums, project manager for the Department of Transportation (DOT), said that there will be traffic detours from Kisco Avenue for up to 10 days so that steelwork can be installed on the new structure.

Briann Myers, Public Involvement Manager for ECCO, said that Direct Mail printing, emails from the Village of Mt. Kisco, and updates on the website of the DOT would be used to let people in the area know about these detours with a seven-day advance notice.

The project has an expected completion date of July 2017.
