To manage the worries often experienced by older members of the community, Mt. Kisco library is providing informative events to help inform and educate seniors on how to stay safe and live a comfortable life.
Scams affecting the elderly community are a serious concern, and the library is providing a helpful seminar tomorrow, October 13, for all area seniors. The event is free and will discuss how older adults can avoid becoming a victim of investment and financial fraud. The class will explain common warning Signs, how to identify a scam, and who to notify if a scam is suspected.
On October 19, the library is offering an informative session about Medicare and other senior benefits. Trained counselors will be at multiple library locations all day to offer free one-on-one advice about program eligibility. They will answer questions about the types of programs available and the services each provides. Arrangements are available for assistance for individuals physically unable to attend the event.
Word-of-mouth and online sites are useful advertising forums, but may not reach the people that need this information most. Since many seniors are hesitant to go online, it is beneficial for the community if the library and the senior organizations working with them provide the details in Brochures and Flyers. Additionally, contact made through Direct Mail printing could list all upcoming senior events for the season and make it easier for residents to add them to their Calendars.
