Hospital creates up-to-date maternity center

A new maternity center is currently being designed and built at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor.

Division chief of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at the hospital, Dr. Meera Garcia, said the redesign and leadership team is made up mostly of women and mothers, and as such the new state-of-the-art center will help mothers and their visitors to feel more comfortable when at the center. Dr. Garcia pointed out that the environment will be very welcoming and soothing for new mothers and their families, with private postpartum rooms that are spacious and luxurious.

Residents of Mt. Kisco will want to take advantage of these new facilities once they are operational. Among the amenities will be a spa-like bathroom and shower in the state-of-the-art labor and delivery rooms, individual temperature control and adjustable lighting, and comfortable beds for partners. A soaking tub will be in each labor and delivery room for additional comfort. Brochure printing is often used to offer more details about such amenities and services.

There will also be a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for newborns needing extra support, and multiple operating rooms and triage suites. All the services that expecting mothers will need will be provided, including breastfeeding support groups, birthing classes, and lactation consultations both during and after birth.

The new maternity center is expected to open this fall.
