Firehouse renovations to be undertaken in Mt. Kisco

A contract has been awarded by the Village Board of Mt. Kisco for firehouse renovations at the Independent Fire Company facility on Lexington Avenue. This contract will reduce the cost of the renovations to about $17,000 over budget.

The replacement of existing windows and new lighting were removed from the project by village officials. OCS Industries submitted a bid of $3,924,521 for a project that was budgeted at close to $3,110,000. Gina Picinich, mayor of Mt. Kisco, was in favor of awarding the contract as the architect for the project recommended that it be undertaken.

Such projects that benefit the public are made known throughout the community with flyer printing.

Picinich cautioned that the project will need to be managed closely. There is an amount set aside for contingency but if issues come up for which contingency funds are used that are beyond those funds, additional funding for the project may be needed. Picinich added that it is important to move forward with the independent firehouse now that the cost is over the budget by a smaller amount.

Ed Brancati, manager of the village, said the contractor is looking to get started on the project as soon as possible. Together, they hope to set the foundation for the expanded part of the firehouse before the winter season begins.
