Conservation organization to hold programs in Mt. Kisco area
The Bedford Audubon Society will be holding several events this month that might be of interest to residents of nearby Mt. Kisco.
Poster printing can be used to promote such events throughout a town and neighboring communities.
There will be a Field Trip to Fahnestock State Park led by Naturalist Tait Johansson. The park is a forest of mixed and deciduous trees and supports a diverse group of bird species dependent on the forest. Attendees are expected to see species like Canada warbler, Blackburnian warbler, Acadian flycatcher, and purple martin. This will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Saturday, June 14, and is free.
Soon after, “Chasing Butterflies: Winged Jewels of the Northeast” will be presented by Charlie Roberto and will be the last presentation of the season. In this talk, Roberto will discuss the world of the swallowtail and other butterflies in the area and their life cycles. Roberto founded the Westchester/Putnam chapter of the North American Butterfly Association. This talk will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 at the Katonah Village Library Garden Room.
Finally, Tait Johansson will also be holding a Butterfly Workshop to enable attendees to learn about skippers, a large family of small butterflies. There will be instruction indoors that will focus on the identification and history of local butterflies, followed by a walk in the garden and sanctuary. This will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21.
