The Industrial Development Agency of Nassau County and Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano recently announced that $8m has been approved for an apartment complex to be located in downtown Farmingdale.
It is anticipated that this project will give Nassau County an economic boost of $21.4m.
There will be options for rentals for residents and businesses in Farmingdale and eastern Nassau County, of which Massapequa Park is a part.
According to Mangano, one of the goals of his administration has been to increase options for housing in the county, and so far 1,350 new rental housing opportunities have been created by his economic development team. This project will add to those rental options and help to generate revenue for local businesses.
The new project, to be called Cornerstone at Farmingdale, will be a 42-unit apartment building and close to the Long Island Rail Road. Affordable units will make up about 10% of the new apartments.
Mayor Ralph Ekstrand of Farmingdale Village commented that the Village of Farmingdale is appreciative that the Mayor and other organizations are continuing to bring housing for the workforce to the downtown.
