Operation Splash will visit a library in Massapequa Park this June to discuss how people can positively impact the environment.
Stop Polluting, Littering, and Save Our Harbors is an informative event where attendees can learn about the impact pollution has on the local environment and how to combat littering in the community. Operation Splash will discuss its efforts to improve the quality of New York’s local bays, waterways, and beaches. A few of the topics covered at the presentation include the group’s marine debris clean-up sessions, advocacy efforts, and education programs.
Operation Splash is a nonprofit organization that aims to bring beauty back to Long Island’s south shore area. Over 3 million pounds of garbage have been removed from local bays since the group was formed in 1990. The founder of the environmental organization is Joanne Grover, who started the group with just a canoe that she used to collect trash from the south shore bays. The organization’s SPLASH Education Program offers events for children, teens, and adults.
The presentation from Operation Splash will be held on Tuesday, June 11th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. There are no ticket prices for the group’s lecture. Space is limited, so guests are asked to register in advance.
