What's Happening in Massapequa Park, NY…

Massapequa goes for Thanksgiving run

The Massapequa Turkey Trot is scheduled to take place in Massapequa this November.

This event is held annually on Thanksgiving morning and is a charity 5K race that supports families affected by cancer. Since its founding in 2010, the race has become a local tradition, drawing nearly 2,000 participants of all ages and fitness levels.

All proceeds from the race will be gifted to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which helps fund cancer research, and the John Theissen Children's Foundation, a Long Island-based charity that helps sick and disadvantaged children.

Race organizers emphasize safety and convenience. They advise participants to avoid parking within the park unless they plan to stay for the entire event. Limited parking is available at nearby Marjorie Post Park and the surrounding streets.

Participants can pick up race packets the evening before the event at a designated location within John J. Burns Park.

The race will feature a 5K race and a children's fun run. Registration for the 5K race will cost $35, while the kid's fun run will cost $10. Race Day registration is available, however, participants registering after November 9 are not guaranteed race shirts. Individuals can get questions answered but sending a message through the event listing. Attendees should note that there will be water, bagels, and bananas available after the run.

Print shops can be used to create bibs for events such as this one.

The race is scheduled for Thursday, November 28th at John J. Burns Park 4990 Merrick Road, Massapequa, New York.
