Chinese game the theme of Massapequa Park program
Those in Massapequa Park interested in learning a new game can attend a special series in June at the local library.
Introduction to Mah Jongg is a virtual activity offered by the Massapequa Public Library where guests can receive step-by-step instructions over four different lessons. Each course is taught by Donna Miller-Small and will comfortably walk newcomers through their first experience with this Chinese card or tile game. Participants will be required to purchase the National Mah Jongg League 2021 card. The organizers suggest students buy American Mah Jongg playing cards to make learning the game easier.
Founded in 1937, the National Mah Jongg League currently has more than 350,000 members. The organization publishes the American version of the game’s rules, supplies players with the official rules cards each year, and sells Mah Jongg-related merchandise. The group also donates to several charities, such as City of Hope, the American Red Cross, and Habitat for Humanity. Organizations similar to this league can use poster printing to show off any upcoming events to the public.
The series will be held on Tuesdays June 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm. The event is meant for adults and seniors, and those interested in participating must register for the program. Instructional documents will be sent to people who register.
