Local officials joined arts council members to kick off the community's Summer Arts Festival recently.
Chad A. Lupinacci, the town supervisor, attended the annual meeting of the Huntington Arts Council (HAC), and congratulated the members on what he said promises to be an exceptional summer season. Lupinacci said he was happy to join the council for the annual meeting, and to be able to wish them a successful festival this year.
The Huntington Arts Council, a nonprofit organization, promotes arts and culture to Huntington residents, and is happy to be reaching so many people. The Summer Arts Festival this year is run by the HAC with the support of the Town of Huntington. Although it has already begun, there are several weeks of entertainment still to come.
Some performances are given in Heckscher Park, while others are presented at the Robert F. Krueger Band Shell, which is located in Northport Harbor. Heckscher Park shows start at 8:00 pm most days, but on designated Family Nights, which take place on Tuesdays, they begin at 7:00 pm. On Thursdays, the Northport Community Band plays in the Krueger Band Shell, beginning at 8:30 pm.
Some of the upcoming events include the shows “Mame” and “The Little Mermaid,” and music from the Long Island Orchestra, and the Claremont Trio (pianists). The season runs through August 11.
Poster printing is often used when events like this are planned, as fans enjoy have merchandise available for purchase.
