As part of its Tribute Series, the Paramount Theatre is presenting “Friday Night Fever Goes Symphony—The New York Bee Gees Featuring: The Nassau Pops Symphony.” The New York Bee Gees pay tribute to a band that seems to have written the soundtrack for the 1970s, especially with their work on the film “Saturday Night Fever.”
The New York Bee Gees comprises professional musicians from New York and Long Island, many of whom are former—or current—members of such well-known groups as Herman's Hermits, Riot, Blue Oyster Cult, Queen, and more. The group is led by Peter Mazzeo, who plays Barry Gibb. A review of the New York Bee Gees says:
“Awesome fun, high energy, interactive, talented musicians, great new 'cat-walk' stage addition. Sing-along and dance-all-night perfection.”
The Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra plays a mix of light classics and popular music. They have performed with such notables as Marvin Hamlisch, and tenor Michael Amante. The Amante performance won a New York Emmy Award nomination. A review of the orchestra said:
“I would see this show year after year for as long as I live. It is always an outstanding performance.”
The rescheduled date of the concert is September 20, starting at 8:00 pm; the doors will open at 6:30 pm. Poster printing is often used to create colorful advertising for this type of event.
