The Huntington Public Library will be holding a virtual class in December where people can learn about feline behaviors.
Decoding the Mystery of Cats: Why Cats Do What They Do is a lecture led by feline behaviorist Stephen Quandt. The presentation examines cat behaviors from an evolutionary perspective and will cover topics such as why felines bite ankles, wake up early, and exercise. The course will also teach attendees how human relationships with cats are influenced by the dynamic between kittens and their mothers. A Q&A session with Quandt will take place after the discussion.
Quandt is an experienced Feline Behavior Coordinator who has worked with organizations such as the Animal Care Centers of NYC, The Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby Country, and Astoria Veterinary Group. He is also Fear Free certified. Past articles written by Quandt include Cats and the Cycle of Predation, and See Cats and Their Place on the Scale of Predation vs. Prey. The lecture on feline behavior will be held on Wednesday, December 8 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Registration for the program is free.
