A movie house in Huntington has created a lineup of films that celebrate the spooky season in style.

The Cinema Arts Center is starting with “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Tim Burton's visionary work. The director used the old technique of stop-motion animation to create an entirely new adventure that has become a cult classic. There will be two showings of this film, plus costume contests and a reception.

Then, attendees can do the Time Warp again, along with the denizens of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” The tale of two naive young people, Brad and Janet, who fall into the clutches of the transvestite scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter, is almost always playing somewhere. It has become a tradition for people to dress up like the characters and act out the film, as will be done in Huntington.

A remastered version of “The Evil Dead” is on the schedule, as is the classic version of “Dracula,” starring Bela Lugosi. The 1931 vampire epic will be accompanied by live music played on the theater organ. Poster printing is often used to create colorful advertising for events like this.

The Nightmare Before Christmas will show at 7.30 pm this Friday, October 18, with the costume contest at 9:00 pm. The second showing is October 19, at 11:00 am, with the costume contest following. “Rocky Horror” will run at 11:00 pm on October 26; “The Evil Dead” at 10:00 pm on October 31, and “Dracula” will appear at 7:30 pm on October 29.
