The fotofoto gallery in Huntington will be hosting an art lesson on working with gold leaf in October.
The Golf Leaf Workshop is a class where students can learn how to gold leaf their photographs from an experienced artist. The course will Print the participant’s pictures on transparency film and vellum paper.
The instructor for the workshop is Tony Monaco, a mixed media artist who is known for creating unique images with bold colors and strong compositional elements. All attendees must send Monaco two pictures in advance to use for the class.
The fotofoto gallery is a nonprofit art venue founded by a group of photographers from Long Island in 2003. The cooperative gallery aims to encourage the artistic development of photographers and offer classes to the public. The facility features several artists, including Paul Mele, Andrea Gordon, and Bruce Cohen. Some exhibitions from the gallery include Vegetal Structures by Pamela Waldroup and History Reimagined by Alan M. Richards.
The lesson on gold leaf will take place on Saturday, October 29 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Tickets for Monaco’s workshop will cost students $150. Attendees must submit their pictures to Monaco at least five days before the class. The photographs can be colored or black and white.
