Historical society to host watercolors class in Huntington

The Huntington Historical Society will be holding a painting course starting in July at the Conklin Barn.

Fearless Watercolors is a three-day workshop presented by Jan Guarino where aspiring artists can build their painting skills. The course covers the basics of watercolor painting and provides attendees with a clear process for how to put water to paper. Students will learn to avoid muddy results, perform proper brush strokes, and correct whites in their paintings.

Jan Guarino is an experienced watercolorist who has taught art classes for 15 years. She has held courses in notable venues such as The Artists Studio and the Art League of Long Island. Guarino also holds an annual trip for artists to Europe. Her past works have won several awards during events like the BACCA 31st Juried Exhibition and BoldBrush Painting Competition. She can also be commissioned to paint home portraits of pets and family members.

The watercolors workshop will take place on July 27, August 3, and August 10 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The class will cost $120 for members of the Huntington Historical Society and $150 for non-members. People can become a part of the society for $40 per year. Students and seniors can receive a discount on their membership fees. Groups that host painting classes like this may use poster printing to advertise the events to the community.
