A pair of great bluesmen are coming to Bay Shore.
Coco Montoya and Ronnie Baker Brooks will be at the Boulton Center for one performance that is sure to have blues fans scrambling for tickets.
Montoya has been playing the blues for nearly 40 years, first as a drummer for Albert Collins, who heard him in the 1970s and asked him to join his band; then as the lead guitarist in the Bluesbreakers, John Mayall's band; then finally as the leader of his own group. Montoya is known for his super guitar technique, as well as his powerful vocal style. He has been touring for years, playing at festivals as well as concert halls and clubs, and working his way to the top of the list of today's blues greats.
Ronnie Baker Brooks is the son of Lonnie “Guitar Jr.” Brooks, a legend in Chicago and Texas blues. Like Montoya, Ronnie Brooks is celebrated for his vocals as well as his guitar, which he started played when he was about six. He toured with his father for 12 years, which allowed him to work with giants like Buddy Guy, B.B. King, and Eric Clapton. He might still be in a band if his father hadn't told him to get out on his own in 1998.
The concert is set for September 28, at 8.00 pm. Poster printing is often used to publicize this type of evening.
