Submissions sought for Bay Shore campaign

A Bay Shore initiative that highlights the talents of local artists has put out a call for submissions, and those selected will be helping to add a touch of beauty to the community.

The Chamber of Commerce of Greater Bay Shore will be running its “Raise up the Arts” activity which will showcase the creativity of 24 artists. Those selected will have their works displayed as part of the Pole Banner Art Project, which will be set up on the utility poles along Main Street.

The display will consist of 30 “ by 60 “ Banners that will be in the public’s eye from May of 2026 until September of 2026, and the name of the artist will be featured. The Banners will be returned at the end of the exhibition. To participate, the contestant needs to be a resident of, or work in, Greater Bay Shore, and they must be at least 18 years of age. The artwork must be original and prepared in the last five years, and a $30.00 submission fee will be applied.

Outdoor display materials need to be able to withstand exposure to the elements, and many communities that use them turn to a local banner printing company for help. They can craft a wide assortment of styles, and many may be very budget friendly.

This opportunity for Bay Shore artists to have their works seen by the world closes on March 1st. More information about how to submit a work can be found on its Facebook listing.
