Bay Shore area supports local food bank

The Bay Shore area is known for its generous spirit, and a call has gone out seeking support for an event that will help to make sure everyone in the community has food on their table.

Mercy Haven, Inc. will be running a food drive in late August, and it has asked everyone to consider making a generous donation to help their neighbors in need.

The organization's food drive will stock the shelves at the Mercy Haven Food Pantry, and drop-offs can be made any time during its four-hour schedule. Donated items should be non-perishable, and they will be collected and sorted. To help maximize the amount collected, the planners have created an online wish list, meaning those who would like to get involved but cannot do so in person can still lend a hand.

Food drives and other charitable events lend a hand to people in need while also building strong, connected communities. A flyer printing company can prepare budget-friendly mailers to send out to make sure everyone knows about an upcoming activity, and the ways they can support it.

Mercy Haven has scheduled its annual Food Drive for Wednesday, August 27. Drop-offs can be made at 859 Connetquot Avenue in Islip Terrace, and its Amazon Wish List provides another way to contribute without even leaving the house.
