Bay Shore High School is getting ready to present the musical ‘Chicago’, and will get coaching from two professionals who are involved in the Broadway production.
David Bushman, Chicago's dance captain, and Marshall Coid, the on-stage “concertmaster” of the production, will visit the school to talk to the students. This is the second time Bushman and Coid have been to the school. They also came to Bay Shore in February to coach the student actors.
The visitors will hold master classes for the students. Bushman will share his knowledge of the choreograph of the legendary Bob Fosse as the dance captain for Chicago, a position he has held for eight years, it is up to Bushman to teach replacements and integrate them into the cast of the show. He works to sustain the integrity of the Fosse style. Coid, a violinist, will work with both the pit orchestra and the singers. He has been with the Broadway production for more than 20 years.
The artists' visit is sponsored by the Bay Shore Schools Arts Education Fund, a nonprofit organization based in the community. The Fund took 500 students to New York in 2016 to see the hit Broadway show ‘Hamilton’.
The Bay Shore version of Chicago is set for March 21-23, at Bay Shore High School, and organizers can use poster printing to create advertisements for the show.
