Bay Shore could be home to a new restaurant, if it can get the permits it needs from the planning board.
Steve Flemming wants to open his restaurant, The Embassy, on East Main Street, so that he can serve international drinks and food to residents of the area. However, before he can open the doors, the business will have to obtain two special permits. One is to allow bar service outside, and the second is to allow outside seating for a tavern or bar.
The new restaurant as envisioned will include a dining room featuring glass and wood elements, fireplaces, and handmade custom furniture that will be brought to Bay Shore from Ireland. Not only that, but years ago, a mahogany bar was salvaged from a historic Saratoga Springs hotel, and will be installed in the new venue.
On the outside, the building's appearance will take its inspiration from popular Irish and English pubs, including London's Chiswick Ales. There are also plans to beautify the exterior walls along Shore Lane and East Main Street by planting greenery and fresh flowers.
In addition to offering Irish music live each Sunday, The Embassy will be the site of benefits, fundraisers, and private parties. Flemming says part of the idea of opening the restaurant is to move to Bay Shore, saying he and his family love the community.
