New cafe finally open in Bay Shore

Toast Coffeehouse, which already has locations in Patchogue and Port Jefferson, recently opened a third spot in Bay Shore, much to the delight of fans of the eatery, who have been waiting months.

The waiting started over a year ago, when a sign appeared indicating Toast would be opening soon. The time expanded to 15 months, but the breakfast-and-lunch coffeehouse opened its doors recently to begin serving goodies such as blueberry pecan pancakes. Businesses like this, which need to stand out from other locations, can distribute Promotional Products to their first customers to help build local recognition.

Items on the menu are also found at the Patchogue shop, according to Rob Matthews, the chef. He has come from Patchogue to run the Bay Shore location, and will stick with that shop’s menu for the present. Among the customer favorites that are making the transition are the ‘Bad Larry’ sandwich. Matthews says he wants to acquire a smoker soon, so he can smoke meats, like brisket, which can be used in a number of dishes.

The Patchogue shop is decorated in the steampunk style, but Bay Shore’s Toast has a carnival theme. Booths look like carnival rides, and there are vintage carnival and circus Posters on the wall. The shop seats approximately 120 patrons who are split among an outdoor patio, a bar, and two dining rooms.
