Job fairs scheduled for Islip area

Islip Town's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs is planning job fairs for young adults and teens who are looking for part-time jobs, or who want summer work.

The events will allow jobseekers to meet potential employers. The town has scheduled several fairs during winter and spring breaks to make it easy for students to attend.

The fairs are slated for the Bohemia Recreation Center, the Recreation Center in Central Islip, and the Brentwood Recreation Center. The Parks Department said there is still space for more company representatives to attend and meet potential employees.

Supervisor Angie Carpenter described the fairs as a great way for young residents and local businesses to establish a connection that will enable them to enjoy joint success. She added that young people who have the experience of working early in life learn skills and gain experience that will serve them well as they advance in their careers.

The event in Bohemia is scheduled for tomorrow, February 21, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. In Central Islip, the fair will be held February 24, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. In Brentwood, the day and time are April 10, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Attendees should bring their résumés.

Events like this can benefit if organizers work with flyer printing companies, which can create handouts listing employers and the qualifications they desire.
