Foundation organizes motorcycle run to help animals

This month, motorcycle enthusiasts and animal-lovers can ride for a good cause.

The Save The Animals Rescue Foundation, otherwise known as STAR, will host a ‘Motorcycle Run for Wildlife’. The proceeds from the event will help wild and exotic animals in need of special care.

Along the way, the ‘run’ has two places to stop. At Bayport Aerodrome, participants can view the old-fashioned planes. At Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, registrants can take advantage of tastings and tours. There will be raffles at both locations and, at the end of the ride, there will be an after-party with food and entertainment.

Registration costs $25 for each rider and $20 for each passenger. Raffle tickets and the after-party are included with registration. Interested participants can register on the STAR website or from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on the day of the event. For $20, non-riders can still enjoy the festivities.

The non-profit organization provides medical attention for Long Island animals that are hurt or in need of a home. The foundation may have used flyer printing services to help advertise the event.

The Motorcycle Run for Wildlife takes place on May 17. The ride starts at Suffolk Harley located at 4020 Sunrise Highway in Oakdale, a short drive from Central Islip. The after-party starts at 3:00 pm at The Maples located at 10 Ryerson Avenue. For more information, call 631 736-8207.
